Through unfortunate circumstance I ended up one computer - an expensive laptop - being out of order and another computer which was Windows 10. The laptop was analysed quickly by Alex who concluded that the memory had decided to malfunction. His conclusion was swift and to the point, so this machine needed a return to the manufacturer. The other machine I provided was a home computer using the older Windows 10 system. However, he tested the machine and found that the BIOS was completely incorrectly set up on at least several points. After an approval from my side, he successfully fixed the BIOS and implemented Windows 11. This was not a trivial operation but he did the fixing easily and I was very glad that his efforts were successful. In terms of charging I think that Alex should have asked more money to investigative. Yes, the fee he charged for a 10 -> 11 changeover was reasonable but the subsequent operation of identifying the problems in the BIOS was much more severe. I am very glad he identified the problem but he should have charged more money for the analysis. A bit strange for a client to demand more money from the investigator but it was definitely worth it.
